Dr. Patrick Moore has been a leader in the international environmental field for over 45 years. Co-founder of Greenpeace, nine years as President of Greenpeace Canada, seven years as a Director of Greenpeace International, Dr. Moore driving policy and direction for 15 years while Greenpeace became the world's largest environmental activist organization. However, in 2007, Greenpeace removed Moore as a founders. Their most recent denial in 2020 after Trump quoted Moore's tweet: "The whole climate crisis is not only Fake News, it's Fake Science."

In 2013 he published Confessions of a Greenpeace Dropout – The Making of a Sensible Environmentalist, which documents his 15 years with Greenpeace and outlines his vision for a sustainable future. Moore frequently takes sharp public stances against major environmental groups, refuting the scientific community on climate change. In February, 2020, Moore was deplatformed (a first) by the City of Regina in regards to a scheduled conference talk. The city stated it did not want “to spark a debate on climate change.” Dr. Moore promotes sustainability and consensus building among competing concerns.

 

As member of the British Columbia government-appointed Round Table on the Environment and Economy from 1990 - 1994, Dr. Moore founded and chaired the BC Carbon Project, a group that worked to develop a common understanding of climate change. As Chair of the Sustainable Forestry Committee of the Forest Alliance of BC from 1991-2002, he led the process of developing principles of sustainable forestry, adopted many industry leaders. He was Chair and Chief Scientist of Greenspirit Strategies, who focus on environmental policy and communications in forestry, agriculture, fisheries and aquaculture, mining, biodiversity, energy and climate change.

He served as co-Chair of the Clean and Safe Energy Coalition, a US-based advocacy mission to build public support for more nuclear energy plants to provide electricity. Dr. Moore founded the Allow Golden Rice Society, a non-profit org dedicated to seeing Golden Rice approved for commercial agriculture. 250 million children, mainly in the tropical countries, are deficient in vitamin A and as a result 2 million die each year. The Allow Golden Rice Now! Campaign demands that Greenpeace and their allies discontinue their campaign of opposition to Golden Rice. In 2019 Bangladesh announced it was approving Golden Rice for cultivation.

In 2015 Dr, Moore joined the founding meeting of the CO2 Coalition in Washington DC, was appointed a founding director, later becoming Chairman of the organization with the aim of educating on the benefits of carbon dioxide for life on Earth. 

 

Dr. Moore is an independent ecologist/environmentalist with Ecosense. He holds an Honorary Doctorate of Science, a Ph.D. in Ecology, and an Honours B.Sc. in Biology and Forest Biology.

Climate change bringing the sermons of the new religion; environmental issues powered by political issues; misleading information, ideology and subversion corrupting good intentions will be some threads throughout the lectures.
